About The Photographer

The Photographer is a horror webcomic created by Ilja Lev (me, hi reader!) with the first chapter released in October of 2025. Truth be told, the original concept was created at the brink of the pandemic during an episode some might call "the teenage angst era" or perhaps "undiagnosed personality disorder + realisation of the author's very apparent transgenderism era". At first it was just supposed to be something that I could vent my uncomfortable feelings of growing up and realising who I am onto and turn them up to 11. But it had grown on me.When I eventually got better I realised that I actually care for these characters and this world a lot. I revamped most of the characters, tweaked a few things (actually a lot of things) and thought "Hell! I can draw, I can just make a comic!". At the start of my methaporical journey I was still figuring things out, for example; the drastic changes of shading in the first two chapters. Chapter 2 is actually a second draft for it used to have a more realistic art style which I soon realised is too hard to do for me if I plan to do this long term. But a few years later and here I am! One thing I really need to stress is the fact that this all wouldn't be happening without the support of my friends.

The story

Val never talked about themselves much. They liked to stay out of trouble. Nothing can't bite them in the butt if they stay away from shady situations and as much as they'd like to keep it that way, their life is being flipped upside down upon meeting a couple of interesting strangers. Because of them, they soon fall down a rabbit hole of the Boston criminal underworld and a conspiracy they could never imagine being real.
